Last weekend was spent packed in my car hurriedly driving to Texas.
On Ostara we honored my father in law's life,
reconnected with old friends and made new connection
with family we'd never met before.

It was a particularly emotionally draining trip.
A trip that was sure to turn ugly if it had not been
for one thing...I set the intention to be a JOY seeker.

I found joy in my niece and nephew as they called me Auntie
Found joy in sharing a cup of coffee with my sister in law
And I found joy in the stories my father in law's
friends shared in talking about him.

By the new moon we were again packed in my car
hurriedly driving back to Georgia.  We started making
frequent stops to take pictures of the wildflowers.
Because even when things feel strange or difficult
and look dark, we chose to see goodness and beauty.

And as I stopped I felt a blessing come bubbling up

Picture
Texas Wildflowers
May Goddess wipe your tears and fill your eyes
with visions of joy to guide you through your darkest days.

May Goddess pour her beauty into you filling
the chips and cracks left by life's harshest lessons.

And may you be reminded you are spirit in body...you are Goddess

Those are beautiful wildflowers! Searching for and finding small gifts during a dark time is transformative and lightens the burden. Beautiful post as always, Dee.

Beaitiful post Dionne! It is so important to find & hold joy close during difficult times. Finding joy in every little thing on any day prepare us to do so during trying times. You've demonstrated this so well.

What a wonderful intention... to be JOY seeker. I love the blessing. (I love the photo too!)

@Loran~ Those wildflowers were so breathtakingly beautiful. I had forgotten what a delight Texas roads in the spring time can be. I wish we had been able to stop and get a picture of the bluebonnets....a deep blue ocean in the middle of random fields

@Petrea~ it is really is hard to hold onto that joy but so rewarding too.

Such lovely words, Dionne...finding joy in all of life-the good & not so good-is the secret to living, isn't it? What a wonderful way to honor the life of your beloved father-in-law, to find the simple joys gathering for his passing brought you. I smiled when I read the "Aunti" part-children are such joy bringers, aren't they? They remind you to just be in the moment. The wildflowers are gorgeous too! Take care of your sweet self.
