I want to remember you this day
How you love to run circles under the sprays of water in the fountain
Not really getting wet.
And when you finally let your face feel the cool water,
You came running back to get your towel once...twice...three times at least
I want to remember how every time I got less present with you in this moment whether deep in thought or writing.
You thought you heard me call you using my voice when it was actually my spirit calling
reminding me to stay with you right here
I want to remember how your little booty
hung out of your shorts as you looked for
some new friends to play in the water with.
And when you saw me with the camera
You wanted to pose
and show me what you had found
I want to remember your velvety soft curly hair
and your smile
and your laugh
And the time you snuggled in underneath my arm.
We just sat on this bench swing
allowing your clothes to dry
laughing at the dog running through the fountain with his people
I want to remember all of this day
Just the two of us being together on this day in ordinary time
This post was inspired by a prompt from the most excellent and HIGHLY recommended book Inner Excavation by the beautiful Liz Lamoreux.
She says this prompt is "...about taking your camera with you on your day-to-day moments and capturing what it is to be in your corner of the world."
I had the pleasure of doing a virtual workshop with her during the wishBIG camp which inspired my 'I AM' video poem.
If you are lucky enough to live near her please do your spirit a favor and attend one of her retreats or purchase the book which is just chalked full of goodness!
