Hathor is the Egyptian Goddess of love and music. As the embodiment of success and abundance, she rules over beauty, wealth and the arts. This week she comes to us with the message 'Seek pleasure'. I hear her whisper to me throughout my day telling me to take pleasure in the simplest things in my life; being fully present while hugging my son, I was able to feel his heart settle into a calming rhythm that transferred to my own. ![]() I take pleasure in looking at my mini farm as I clean the morning dishes. The sun warming my skin through the window delights me as I drive. Sitting at the park now, I take pleasure in the wind blowing cooling the sweat on my brow. I visualize how pleasurable it must be to ride the air currents like the bird that just landed near me. I'm even finding pleasure in the feel of my fingers running across my keyboard as I type this message to you. ![]() There's often so little space on my to do list for finding pleasure in my every day tasks, but that's exactly where I can find it if I choose to. I can take pleasure in the movements my body makes as I collect the clothes, moving them from washer to dryer. I can take pleasure in the way the laundry smells warm from the dryer and in folding them. And I can certainly take pleasure in the job completed. All these things can bring me great pleasure but I must choose to be open to receiving. Sometimes I get caught up in the false believe I have to do something in order to be worthy of receiving. It's part of the not 'blank' enough-itis that many of us suffer from. But basking in Hathor's benign embrace this week has once again shown me that love, happiness and even pleasure are a part of my birthright. Pleasure is part of your birthright too. ![]() This week the hydrangeas bloomed in my backyard. I can see them from my kitchen window and there are more that greet me as I walk out to my car. Their lush blooms are breathtakingly beautiful in dark purple, magenta and pink hues. Something truly magical happened when
my daughter filled vases and placed them around the house. My heart and spirit elevated and I was cared for in a way I didn't know I needed. Each time I walk into a room, they make me really see them. My breathing slows and I am filled with awe and wonder as I notice how they light up the room. They remind me of who I am...of who we all are. We are all shining beams of light having the power to inspire awe and wonder in those around us. This is how I want to be; sharing my luscious and breathtakingly beautiful gifts with the world just because I can. Writing that scares me. The voices of fear and doubt are already sounding their klaxons of doom and failure as I do. But the voice of the hydrangeas cut through my inner turmoil. Their voices uplift me with the air currents I need to fly. |
