Today, we move into the Pisces Full Moon, a 3 day window of time to align what we want
to see in our lives with what's going on in the heavens. As a water sign, Pisces is encouraging
us to dream of a peaceful planet and bring it into being. The Pisces moon does it's dance with
the Virgo sun, which reminds us that everything we do is sacred.
Seeing so many people suffering in the world can feel quite overwhelming and fortunately
I don't have to try and solve every problem for everyone.
I'm feeling drawn to focus on the smaller acts I can do to uplift humanity.
Those acts that are so much a part of my every day life that I tend to take
them for granted, like being a good steward of my belongings, my home
and the land immediately surrounding it.
I'm also thinking of how joining my little bit with other's little bits can add up to quite a big bit.
Check out the lovely blogger Liz Lamoreux' quest to use Pinterest for good to see what I'm
Lastly, a beautiful prayer came into my life today, It felt like the perfect connection to
what my thoughts and feelings have been as I tune into the moon. I share it with you today
and hope it will be a blessing to you and help you render your own quiet acts of helping others
and the whole.
Today and tonight I render quiet acts. Invisibly helping others and the whole.
Understanding how the elements combine in my creations
helps me to work with and direct the forces of nature. For
example, I'm knitting a sweater vest for my son. I'm so
excited about it because it will be my first fitted garment and
I'll learn several new things over the process. If it turns out
the way I envision it, it will be very well received by my boy.
In tuning into the elements to create this vest for him, I can see
how Air (intention), Water (emotion), Fire (action), Earth (step by step movements) and Spirit (choice) all come into play.
In this case my intention is to knit a sweater vest for my son. The emotions behind it include love,
desire, and pride. I have a desire to challenge myself to grow as a knitter, I'll infuse love into every
stitch of the project and I'll be very proud of myself for taking the step by step actions necessary to complete it. I know he loves Darth Vader, dressing handsomely and will want to wear it often.
Intention and emotion are enough to get started but not enough to complete a creation. This is
where the elemental realms of Fire, Earth and Spirit, who's powers of action, taking step by step movements and choice, come into play. In the example of the sweater vest these powers are
intertwined. Deciding on the pattern and buying the supplies require choice (spirit) and actions
(fire) on my part. And throughout the entire process I'm going step by step (earth).
The elements are also combining in another way; the earthy materials I'm using, the hours of
emotional enjoyment and relaxation (water), disconnecting from the fearful inner critic voices
running through my head (air) , the firey transformation of a ball of yarn into a garment, and the
unique way I express myself through the knitting of this garment (spirit).
The next time you're creating a meal, a painting, a new business offering, or ANYTHING take a look
at how the elements are combining within you to bring your creation into the world. If you're struggling with getting it into form, ask yourself what element needs might you need to strengthen or tune into for extra guidance for that creation.
Goddess, God, All That Is
There are people doing good things in the world today
May they be uplifted, rested and renewed to continue doing good things.
There are people suffering today.
May their hearts be comforted and shown deep compassion
There are people causing suffering
May their hearts be changed to align with what is good for everyone
There are people finding love
May their hearts drive out the darkness of fear and hate
May I remember today is a gift
May I keep my heart open during the challenges I may face today
May I choose my actions and speak words from love
and may I align with the highest good for myself and all
And So It Is
As a tea priestess, one of the things people always
ask me about is if I only drink tea. Heck no! I'm totally
obsessed with tea and I'm always looking for more ways
to get it into my life! Here are my current top 3 favorites:
Tea Infused Syrup
Make a tea syrup to sweeten your tea, make your own tea lattes, flavor lemonade or any
other hot or cold beverage you’d like! Hey! how about drizzling it over pancakes or fruit?
4 tsp of loose or 4 tea bags (your favorite)
1 cup sugar
1 cup of water
In a pan bring water to boil. Remove from heat and add tea allow to steep
4-5 minutes (if I’m using loose tea I just put the leaves in the water then strain
them out after brewing). Return tea to stove adding sugar stirring until completely
dissolved. Allow to cool and store in the fridge in an air tight container.
P.S. It will last in there for about 6 months. Stir in 1 oz. of vodka as it cools if you want it to
last longer than that
Tea Infused Eggs
Also called Marbled Eggs, my daughter told me while visiting Japan she often saw these little beauties being sold in their convenience stores. I tried them and am pleased to report they are super delicious and are currently taking up residence on my personal tea party plates:
3/4- 1 Tablespoon of black tea or 2 black tea bags
1-2 tsp Salt or Soy
Hard-boil eggs then run them under cold water until you can easily handle them.
Gently crap the egg shells making sure to keep the shell on the egg! The more you
crack them the more intricate the finished marble design will be. In a large pan add
eggs in a single layer with enough water to cover them, black tea, and salt or soy sauce.
Bring water to simmer. Remove from heat, cover, and allow eggs to steep for 1 hour or
longer for more colored eggs. When cool, drain and remove the shells or leave shells on,
wrap in plastic wrap and store in fridge until ready to serve!
P.S. Try different herbal tea blends for different colors!
P.P.S. You can use tea as a natural Easter egg dye!
Just add 1 tsp of vinegar to a cup of hot tea.
Japanese green tea rice ('ocha' means 'tea' in Japanese) is commonly served at the very
end of an elaborate Japanese full course meal. It's also favored as a midnight snack, a
hangover cure, or just when you want something hot and filling. I use it as a way
to eat up leftover hanging out in the fridge rice. If you have a green tea that tastes too strong
for you to drink, it will be perfect for this! Another awesome thing? You get the antioxidents
of the tea! Another awesome thing? Though more Japanese ingredients will make this more
authentic, I've found this is a totally forgiving recipe so you can use just about any you like!
1/2-1 cup rice per person
1-1/2 cups of green tea per person
**Any non flavored green tea will do but I recommend genmai-cha
which has toasted brown rice with a 'popcorn' like taste
or go traditional with ho-ji cha a roasted green tea**
Various veggies, tofu, and or meats
Soy sauce to taste
Place warm (or reheated) rice in a bowl, add a cup or two of hot green tea,
top with other warmed ingredients, add a splash of soy sauce and serve!
There you have it 3 of my favorite ways to use tea other than just drinking it!
I hope this has inspired you to think outside the tea pot and try using tea for other things!
Your turn! Do you use tea other than drinking it?
Fully Healed 2003
As you can probably guess, my spiritual is based on my belief
in Goddess. That isn't to say that I don't believe in God, it just
means on this part of my journey, I choose to honor and connect
with Goddess and the divine feminine flow of energy within me and
It's a journey I've been on for nearly 15 years that
culminated in my ordination as Priestess over 3 years ago.
Even back then I wasn't really sure what I was getting into but I knew without a shadow of a doubt it
was something I needed to do and I wanted to do something tangible to mark my dedication.
So I got a tattoo designed by a friend and sister priestess.
But what's the deal with being a priestess and why does it matter?
The dictionary definition is "a woman who offciates sacred rites" and yes that is certainly something
I do, but for me, being a priestess is so much more. I chose to undergo train and initiation to activate
the Priestess archetype within me to deepen my connect to Goddess so I could show up as her emissary
and speak with her words in the world. I want to be clear here that Goddess speaks through me but my
way of connecting with her is not the only way.
Here's the Big Deal
Becoming a priestess has definitely had an impact on the relationships in my life. With my husband,
being a Priestess has helped me clear away self depreciating relational patterns while strengthening
our bonds. In relationship to my children it has helped me to give them the tools they need to grow
into the beings they were meant to be. And as I friend my Priestessing has helped me develop deeper
listening skills and the ability to help them reframe (see situations from a different perspective).
This has truly been a gift for me and one I enjoy giving my clients as well.
Becoming a Priestess has increased my ability to respond and work with the rhythms and cycles
of nature to bring my creations into the world. I continually "work" (which often feels more like play)
to respond to the calling of my spirit and take personal responsibility for how I am showing up in the
Women who choose to show up as a Priestess in their lives and businesses
have the power to change the world.
I see women working very hard to change the world around them in huge and small ways.
I look at these women are Priestesses showing me by their stories and work ways I can change
And I'm showing up in the hopes of helping someone else change their world too.
