As I continue to work with my 100 People Project a couple of questions have come up which I hope to be able to answer sufficently in several blog posts. The first is 'why should I develop a relationship with the elements?" an excellent question to be sure. On the surface, the first reason for developing a relationship with the elements is the same as why you would want to develop a relationship with anybody; you've traveled in the same circles and you want to get to know that person better. The elements are always with you traveling in the same circles as you do so why not get to know them better? But as I sat down and journaled with what a difference having a working relationship with the elements has made for me I came up 3 more reasons I'd like to share with you today. 1. Elemental wisdom is easily accessible.
There is no learning curve with the elements. All that is required is the desire to make a conscious connection with them. Just ask for a direct connection to the element and it will show you all the ways you interact with it on a daily basis. You'll be surprised how often you'll get an shot of insight while doing a seemingly mundane task once you've established your connection. Oh! Speaking of connections, I recently was invited to write about connecting with Libra in it's context of the air or mental realm. This exploration gave me the opportunity to practice what I preach with a trip to the laundromat! When you download The Magickal Pathway you can read my contribution as well as many other women sharing their wisdom of the season! 2. The elements always take me to my next level of personal and spiritual growth. I've often talked about this and it still remains one of the most compelling and engaging reasons I continue to work with the elements when other tools i once found valuable faded away. In my experience, working with the elements got me ready to receive the idea in a way that made it doable for me. Through my journal practice and weekly oracle readings, I had prepared the ground in my inner world clearing away the rocks of self doubt and the roots of outdated beliefs so the seed of this idea could take root. 3. I often access deeper levels of my own wisdom and act on that wisdom quicker. What I've noticed is that when I have a deep insight, it is usually something very simple that doesn't require a lot of prep work to implement. Take for example toe 100 People Project I mentioned above. I was contemplating ways to deepen my connection with the people in my orbit and find out how I could be of better service to them. I asked for elemental guidance on how to do that and within a few days the idea of talking for 30 minutes via Skype or phone call came via someone's Facebook status! A simple idea right? At first I filed it away for 'someday' when I got more systems in place and a few weeks past but with the guidance of my personal weekly Elemental Forces of Creation Oracle reading, Fire kept telling me to 'Move' and I did. What I've learned about myself is I default into thinking a thing has to be hard for it to be of value when building Goddess Tea House but that's not true at all. Going deeper I began to look into other areas of my life where I made the actions harder than they needed to be in order to 'prove' the actions valuable to myself which led to another question...how can taking action for myself be filled with more grace and ease? I love connecting with nature and find the elements to be very wise counsel as I move forward with my dreams and goals. When I made the commitment to dedicated weekly time to connect with them via the Elemental Forces of Creation Oracle, I found a wealth of insights for what my next steps needed to be. They always meet me where I'm at and take me to my next learning edge. Listening for insights and guidance can seem intimidating at first but I'm happy to give you some pointers that you can use right now. 1. Have an Elemental Tea Party
As I began developing an active relationship with the elements, I was surprised to discover how much my understanding of them grew when I connected to them via my daily cuppa. What was a lovely past time has now developed into a rich connection time that I cherish. You can create your own ritual tea party by being very present as you prepare your cup of tea. Take a deep inhale of the fragrance of the tea you're about to brew. Be mindful of the reasons why you chose your favorite cup. Stay present and listen as the water boils. What is each of the elements telling you about how they work together to bring that cup of tea to life? How can you apply that insight to your goals & dreams? 2. Go Outside This is the easiest way by far to connect with all the elements at once. Take a blanket and sit on the ground. Settle in with a few deep breaths as you think about each element individually (earth, water, air, fire, spirit) and collectively. Then with journal and pen in hand, ask them "what do I need to know about...?" and wait for the answers to rise up from within you. You may notice a leaf falling, or you may hear water flowing. The breeze may kiss your cheek or the sun may come out from behind a cloud and shine on you triggering the answer to your questions. 3.. Sweat Your Prayers There is something enlivening about connecting to the elements through your body temple that brings the right answers to the surface just when you need them. Select some music (I highly recommend James Asher's CD Feet in the Soil or for a little guidance Gabrielle Roth's CD "Endless Wave I") and allow your body to just move without any prescribed steps while opening to receive the answers you need. Then jot down some notes on your findings. I hope you found these tips useful and if you find yourself stuck or in need of deeper guidance, please consider scheduling an Elemental Forces of Creation Oracle Reading with me. |
