I know I said I was going to share my love for my planner this week but I wanted to share another book that has really been rocking my world within the last few days....
I highly recommend the Miracle Morning especially if you're wanting to make some serious positive changes in your life! And if you'd like to have support for your own 30 Day Miracle Morning Challenge, leave a comment below!
Talk to you next week!
As I mentioned last week, I'm sick and tired of being stuck in one place by fear and
I'm determined to do something about it. I'm not attempting to wipe out my fears or
ignore them but I can see how they've been holding me back from using my voice.
Instead of letting them continue to go unchecked, I'm letting them guide me to take
more calculated risks. Case in point, on Facebook, I've been posting links to resources
to help further the discussion of race in a positive way.
Because even though I've been luckier than most black people I've known and haven't
experienced as much, racism is still something I deal with it whether I talk about it or not.
I still have to teach my children how to love the skin they're in in the face of people who
would try to make them feel shame and less than because of it.
And I have to prepare myself for the hard conversations I'll have to have to armor my
young biracial son with as he moves into manhood and out into the world.
So as often as spirit moves me, I'm going to talk about it.
In case you don't follow me on Facebook here's the cliffnotes version of a recent example
of the work to be done. I posted a link explaining why saying 'All Lives Matter' in response
to Black Lives Matter is like kicking someone in the face.
A friend of a friend 'didn't get it' and after attempts were made by others to help her get it
(via other links and sharing their understanding), she showed her true colors; she didn't
really care because she felt blacks have more privileges (her last comment being a
sarcastic reference to "United White College Fund").
How did my work with the elements support me in this case? Well, had I not been actively
engaged in a weekly practice of elemental connection via the Elemental Forces of Creation
Oracle and my daily practice of saying good morning to the elements and asking for their
guidance and support throughout my interactions, I would have fallen back on default.
I would have taken personally the comments of someone I don't know and allowed
this stranger dull my fiery radiance.
I would have allowed what she was broadcasting over the air waves to affect the way
I think and feel about myself.
I would have become depressed and maybe even angry at feeling like a victim.
I would have shrunk away from standing in my own power.
I would have been afraid to speak up again.
But that is not the case.
I chose to remain sovereign, standing firm in my own power.
The choice I make daily is to hold onto the vision I have of myself and follow my own
spirit filled guidance. Allowing my radiance to light the way, I choose to write you
about this without an emotional charge.
Don't get me wrong, I definitely was angered by her words.
But because I held an uplifted vibration, God/Goddess/All That Is sent me confirmation
that the Universe has my back. This confirmation came in the form of other Facebook
friends chiming in to put Ms. Sassypants in check and using their power of unfriending.
The elements support me in my inner world which affected and shaped my actions and
the support I recieved on the outer world.
Today I invite you to do 3 things:
1. Start making a daily connection with the elements with a simple prayer of gratitude.
Say "Good Morning ...! Thank you for..." filling in the blank with each element + adding
what you're grateful for with each. (if you need additional support in developing a daily
spiritual practice check out Honor this Day)
2. Really pay attention to what's being broadcasted in the places (both online and off)
you most frequent and be mindful of what you're broadcasting as well. Are things being
said that make you uncomfortable or aren't in alignment with who you are and what you
want in your life? Consider what actions you need to take in order to be more in
alignment and act accordingly.
3. Take good care of yourself as you make the adjustments.
Change is hard enough without you beating up on yourself.
One of the dreams I have for myself in 2015 is to get in balance with body movement and rest. I had already started that process last year with my weekly yoga practice and I knew I wanted to kick it up a notch. I decided to participate in a 5K. I did a little research and discovered with a little training I "should" have been able to walk the 5K/3.1 miles in a little under an hour. I found a training program I could follow as I had 8 weeks (at the time) until the event. One of the things I learned from trainning that I'm now applying to everything is that I get to choose the pace that I move at and what ever pace I choose is perfect for me.
The first few weeks, I called on elemental support via the Elemental Forces of Creation Oracle to clear out anything that was holding me back from participating; thoughts like "how am I possibly going o go from a sedintary lifestyle to walking a 5k in only 8 weeks, what's the point in doing this when I haven't been able to maintain a regular exercise program in the past, I'm too overweight to even think about walking a 5k let alone finishing one!
Through journaling I cleared the energy and again connected with the elements to direct the forces of creation toward what I wanted to happen (in this case finishing the 5K in an hour or less) One of the lessons that kept coming up week after week was from the Water card 'Pace". Water teaches us about pace from it's babbling brooks to it mighty waterfalls and everything in between. During my personal trainning times, I learned to set my own pace. I wasn't in competition with anyone else who happened to be out that day...it was totally about me. Yet at the actual event I was really tempted to compare my pace to that of others who were there. I had to keep reminding myself that the pace I was setting was the best for me. If I'd tried to keep someone else's pace I could have pushed myself too hard or even injured myself.
During the course of the 5K I had to keep telling myself over and over set your own pace.
This is also important to remember in other areas of life when I start comparing where I'm at with how much farther along it seems someone else is in business, financal, schooling, creative output or any other area it's because their pace is different from mine. Shift my focus from copying their pace to trainning myself up to a faster pace. I'm only hurting myself by moving at someone else pace.
Today I invite you to look at your goals and dreams and consider the following. When two people are walking together, one person will naturally fall into the other person's pace. So my question for you is....are you setting your pace or is someone else controling your race?
It's challenging to rebuild trust once it's broken in a relationship. If when we have a habit of saying we're going to do things for ourself only to let other things get in the way, we're setting our dreams and goals up for difficulties as we won't trust ourselves to handle the hard times that will inevitably come as we work toward them. But trust in ourselves can be rebuilt.
