Last week I shared a poem by William Stafford that spoke to
how I wanted to experience my word of the year;
"I embrace emerging experience.
I participate in discovery.
I am a butterfly.
I am not a butterfly collector.
I want the experience of the butterfly"

A butterfly pushes and breaks out of it's
cocoon, working with all it's might to free itself.
This is quite a struggle and from what I've read
it's a necessary experience so that it may be strong.
Afterward, a butterfly sits and waits allowing its wings time
to unfurl and dry. Butterfly then pumps it's wings so they may
be tested before it takes flight. The butterfly has a willingness
and determination to let go of what was not in alignment with what it is
becoming and flies free...off to discover new places of ancient memory to live and grow and start all over again.
This speaks to me of cycles...a time reach deep inside and let go of what is not in my highest good to push forward despite any obstacles, a time to wait while integrating and acknowledging the struggle, and a time to assess while preparing for the next phase.
That is the deep experience of the butterfly to me.
That's what I wish to experience with more
mindfulness. My own deep butterfly experience.
