One of the dreams I have for myself in 2015 is to get in balance with body movement and rest. I had already started that process last year with my weekly yoga practice and I knew I wanted to kick it up a notch. I decided to participate in a 5K. I did a little research and discovered with a little training I "should" have been able to walk the 5K/3.1 miles in a little under an hour. I found a training program I could follow as I had 8 weeks (at the time) until the event. One of the things I learned from trainning that I'm now applying to everything is that I get to choose the pace that I move at and what ever pace I choose is perfect for me. The first few weeks, I called on elemental support via the Elemental Forces of Creation Oracle to clear out anything that was holding me back from participating; thoughts like "how am I possibly going o go from a sedintary lifestyle to walking a 5k in only 8 weeks, what's the point in doing this when I haven't been able to maintain a regular exercise program in the past, I'm too overweight to even think about walking a 5k let alone finishing one!
Through journaling I cleared the energy and again connected with the elements to direct the forces of creation toward what I wanted to happen (in this case finishing the 5K in an hour or less) One of the lessons that kept coming up week after week was from the Water card 'Pace". Water teaches us about pace from it's babbling brooks to it mighty waterfalls and everything in between. During my personal trainning times, I learned to set my own pace. I wasn't in competition with anyone else who happened to be out that day...it was totally about me. Yet at the actual event I was really tempted to compare my pace to that of others who were there. I had to keep reminding myself that the pace I was setting was the best for me. If I'd tried to keep someone else's pace I could have pushed myself too hard or even injured myself. During the course of the 5K I had to keep telling myself over and over set your own pace. This is also important to remember in other areas of life when I start comparing where I'm at with how much farther along it seems someone else is in business, financal, schooling, creative output or any other area it's because their pace is different from mine. Shift my focus from copying their pace to trainning myself up to a faster pace. I'm only hurting myself by moving at someone else pace. Today I invite you to look at your goals and dreams and consider the following. When two people are walking together, one person will naturally fall into the other person's pace. So my question for you is....are you setting your pace or is someone else controling your race? With Love, Dionne Comments are closed.
