_I grew up in Texas where the only seasons are Summer and not Summer. When I was a kid watching the weather forecast on the news and they'd talk about the remote possibility of snow, I got excited. Kids always find the magic of snow. It rarely happened but when it did snow, the whole town would practically shut down. But it never stayed around longer than a day or two tops. Even now, every time I see snow, it's a magical experience. My first honest to goodness 'White Christmas' happened when I was living in Germany. Woefully ill prepared, I layered my daughter and myself with all the clothes I could find and made our way to the wooded park area behind the military housing. _I'll never forget the way the snow delicately balanced on the
naked tree branches, the icicles sparkle as the sun caught their gaze, or the deer as surprised to see us as we were to see him who stood and watched us looking at the snow. No where else have a found the depth of silence the snow covered ground offered Truly the only sound we heard was the crunch of our feet in the snow. We returned to our home, welcoming the warmth and maintaining the comfortable blanket of silence the Christmas snow had wrapped around all of us. We made hot cocoa and snuggled together on the couch to look at our Christmas tree lights drifting off to sleep. Now we come to the Wishcasting before Christmas where Jamie asks What is your winter wish? My winter wish is to find the comfortable silence once again in the magical snow. Beloved Dionne whenever you feel the need for snow come January/February please hustle your bustle up here and stay with us! It would be heavenly to be snowed in by the fire with your loveliness! As you wish for yourself so i wish for you also ... and willing to back it up with an invitation to the Great White North! Solstice hugs, susanna
I grew up in 'Central Oregon' (east of the Cascade Mt range) where most of our precipitation came in the form of Snow, & waited for the bus (all 12 years) on our country road, looking across fields at Snow Covered Mt Jefferson & perhaps Mt Hood .... Comments are closed.
